NEW CCFS Devotional Materials

The CCFS Devotional materials are derived from my previous writings over the last five years. I’ve restructured the content into three headings: The Word, The Point, The Prayer.

“For He spoke, and it was [done]; He commanded, and it stood fast.”

Psalm 33:9 NKJV

The Word

The emphasis here is to acknowledge that God has spoken, and that he has spoke first. The fact that he has spoken first guides the thoughts of man that follow. Because His Word is living, active and true, we must therefore submit our hearts, minds and lives to the enduring and authoritative Word if we will seek to make sense of our lives.

The Point

This emphasis here applies the Word. It acknowledges that because God has spoken first, what he thinks matters more than what I think. God never speaks into a vacuum. When he speaks, he works. His speech is work, and God always works toward holy ends that preserve his glory and the good of creation.

The Prayer

The emphasis here is consider anew what it is we pray. In view of what has said, in view of the work of his Word, we must now ask how does this shape our prayers for our heart and life going forward? So, at the end of every reading, you will be invited to consider a new prayer. We cannot speak to our heart except for what God has said. We are not sovereign over lives.

[When You said], “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.”

Psalm 27:8 NKJV

Let us seek the face of God in and through prayer that he may bring about a work, through his word, to make our lives a true sacrifice that honors and pleases him to the end.
